Giving birth is never easy, as described by Parents, “…labor can feel like extremely strong menstrual cramps that take your breath away, get progressively more intense, and become so strong that you might be you unable to talk through them.”
This was the worry of Taylor Becher and Lance Thompson from Albertville, Minnesota, three years ago when they found they were having quadruplets!
Taylor’s case was actually one in 15 million because her quadruplets are identical.
Despite already having a 21-month-old boy before the quadruplets, the thought of giving birth to four babies still made her shiver in fear. She knew that it’s not going to be easy to have four babies in one go.
A healthy mindset is essential during pregnancy.
Behind all her worries and stress, Taylor’s boyfriend, Lance, was always there to uplift her spirits. He was there throughout the pregnancy journey up to the actual day when Taylor gave birth.
Lance would always tell Taylor that everything’s going to be fine.
“There were times when I would Google and stress myself out, but Lance would talk me down,” she said.
According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, multiple pregnancies cause complications to increase with every additional fetus. What Taylor went through was totally understandable provided the circumstances.
These complications include the following, preterm birth, placental problems, preeclampsia, diabetes, and fetal and newborn complications.
Overcoming challenges.
Carrying multiple lives inside your womb sure is a scary thing, however, Taylor managed to overcome the challenges by keeping a positive outlook on things and by being extra careful.
She enjoyed buying baby essentials like car seats, cots, and newborn clothes. It’s a lot more exciting since they’re expecting four babies.
When the day they all have been waiting for finally came, Taylor gave birth to four little angels by caesarian operation.
On March 11, 2020, they welcomed identical quadruplets, Lakely, Sawyer, Kennedy, and Aurora.
Thankfully, all four babies were born with no complications.
Lakely was the smallest among the four, she weighed 2 pounds and 3 ounces only, while Sawyer was the biggest at 3 pounds and 3 ounces.
Taylor said that although Lakely weighed in the lowest among the quadruplets, she was the only one who didn’t need breathing assistance. After all, the couple was glad and relieved that all their babies were healthy and none of them needed special medical attention.
Soon, they brought home the new members of their family.
Waiting at home was their big brother Linden who was excited to see his baby sisters.
When she was still pregnant, Taylor remembered her son kissing her belly.
“Before the babies were born, I’d say, ‘Do you want to give your sister a kiss?’ And he’d kiss my belly!”
The identical quadruplets are now 3 years old and enjoying all the things together like dressing up in the same attire, going to the grocery store together, painting together, eating together, and sleeping together.
They even created a Facebook page and named it ‘Thompson Identical Quadruplets‘. There, they post photos and videos of Lakely, Sawyer, Kennedy, Aurora, and their big brother Linden.
