Being a mom is a full-time job. With a little person to look after, you’ll be seeing laundry bags filled with tiny clothes pretty often.
It comes with looking after little ones. Since you’ll probably be doing this at least once a week, it may help to have some ways to make the process easier.
Let’s start off with socks. Of all clothes, socks have a propensity to get lost or mismatched more than any other. That, or they shed the most lint in your washing machines and dryers.
If you don’t want to put up with mismatched or lost socks anymore, a mesh bag and some clothes pins are what you’ll need.
Just clip a mesh bag onto the side of a hamper, and use the bag for the dirty socks the next time you have to do the laundry. Now, unless something happens to the bag, you shouldn’t be troubled by socks in the laundry anymore.
Moving on, for those who still have toddlers who love to be carried, I doubt your arms and backs can take the weight of both a toddler and a laundry hamper.
We love carrying kids, but sometimes your back needs to take a break.
But what if your toddler finds themselves wanting to tag along for laundry?
Make it fun for them by repurposing some old toy cars and trucks they don’t use anymore. Hot glue them to the bottom of a hamper, turning it into a fun, wheeled wagon of sorts for your toddler to push along.
This way, they’ll have something fun and stimulating to do when laundry day comes. They might even push the hamper along for you, and that saves your back a lot of strain (especially for the petite moms out there!).
Speaking of getting things mixed up, did you accidentally put those clothes in the dryer when you meant to air dry them? Again?
It’s for sure frustrating to keep making that mistake. So next time, take a dry-erase marker and write on the dryer which ones to take out and separate. Then just wipe it off when you’re done.
Don’t let your kids touch the dry erase marker, though.
Laundry detergent is best kept out of kids’ reach, so try putting them on wall-mounted soap dispensers just out of reach.
Wall-mounting is a space-saving hack, and one you might want to keep using.
This time, with 2 clothing hooks and an inexpensive towel hanger, you can create a place to hang an ironing board and extra clothes. Makes the place a lot less cluttered, and easier to work in.
Enough about the kids’ clothes, what about dads’ clothes? Your husband might work up a sweat, in the office or on the commute.
Those clothes are bound to smell when they’re in the hamper. Hang them up to avoid getting mildew on them before washing them.
Also, did you know that placing a fluffy, dry towel in the dryer with your other clothes can make them dry faster?
Assuming a 15 minute drying cycle, that towel will absorb most of the moisture.
While we’re at it, I should also mention that a roll of tinfoil is a great substitute for a dryer sheet, in the event you run out of the latter.
But now you have to hang and fold them, and there’s a couple more hacks for those too.
Creases are bound to happen when clothes are hung on conventional racks. With this pool noddle hack, you can have crease-free clothes after hanging them up. Just cut one and wrap it over the line on a rack.
And last but not least, there’s a clever trick to folding clothes like in clothing stores. But you’ll have to watch the video for that one.
The video for all these hacks is here below. Give it a watch, and give this article a share too!
